My adorable friend and co-worker is expecting a sweet baby boy in January and I was so happy to help plan a shower for her to welcome this sweet blessing.
The theme for this little boy’s nursery is the Baby Lion King so of course that had to be the theme of the shower. 🙂
When I started planning the decorations I had a hard time finding downloads or individual graphics available for purchase of the baby lion king. I turned to google to find some images I could use for the invitation and decorations.
I’ve included them below for someone else to use.

THE CAKE
We just did a simple decorated cake with orange and brown frosting. I created a burlap banner using burlap pennants I picked up at Hobby Lobby, skewers, straws (for color) and jute twine.
For the baby lion king I found an image online and cropped him to be this size. I printed on white cardstock just cut him out with scissors. Detailing with a brown marker makes his features stand out. I added two wooden skewers to the back of cardstock to stick in the cake to make him stand up.
Keep in mind that it is an image that doesn’t have the best pixels and may be a little fuzzy but it worked for our party. 🙂
I created a corsage with ribbon, flowers a scalloped circle and image of our party theme found online.
Since we were throwing this baby shower during our lunch noon hour and invited many people from various departments I thought some guests may just want to add $$ for the many items the mom to be will be needing to care for her little blessing.
I put together a “money tree” with blank notecards and envelopes as well as little boxes (favor boxes from the Dollar Tree). The basket was on the table for cards as well as blank notecards and envelopes to write a note and slip in a gift to clip or hang on the tree. For the clips I took plain clothespins also from Dollar Tree and added Washi tape to both sides. Makes a super easy and quick way to dress up ordinary clothespins.
For the tree I used a slim artificial pine tree (you can find these at Hobby Lobby), added lights, burlap ribbon and gold curly bows (also from Dollar Tree). Nothing fancy but cute and simple.
For the table decorations I created these Mini Diaper Cakes using diapers, scrapbook paper and ribbon.
While researching table decorations these kept popping up and according to Etsy.com they are one of the most popular selling items for baby showers. If you can’t or don’t want to make one you can purchase them from the many sellers on Etsy.com
I created my own.

Cute ideas. I haven’t seen this theme before, it turned out so nice. Mini diaper cakes would be so much easier than a big one, great idea
