💔❤️🩹 Widow’s Journey — A Different Valentine’s Day
Share
Yesterday was a hard day. My first Valentine’s Day without my love. ❤️
I’ve always adored this holiday — the colors, the cards, the flowers, the sweet sentiments, and all the little touches of love it brings. It has always been a day close to my heart… a day to celebrate love in all its forms.
This year was very different.
Instead of focusing on what was missing, I chose to hold onto the love, the memories, and the many blessings that still surround me. And God, in His gentle way, reminded me that love still shows up — sometimes in the most unexpected places.
My youngest son, Spencer, gave me the sweetest Valentine’s card with a handwritten message that reminded me I am still surrounded by so much love. 🤍 (If you know Spencer, you know this was very unexpected.) 🥰🥹
He and his beautiful girlfriend stayed in for Valentine’s Day and decided to cook together… and they included me. How awesome is that? What a blessing.
I jokingly told them I felt like the third wheel on their Valentine’s date, but they both reassured me that they truly wanted me there. That simple invitation meant more than I can put into words.
Even through heartbreak, I can still see God in the details of every part of my life. In the quiet moments. In the unexpected gestures. In the love that continues to surround me through family, faith, and friendship.
Grief has changed how this day looks, but it has not taken away the love that remains.
I am so grateful for my faith, for strength, and for the promise that joy still finds its way back — even after loss.
