A choice to get up, put one foot in front of the other, and learn to walk with this grief—some days much heavier than others.
I don't share these moments for sadness or sympathy. I share them because I was blessed to be loved by two amazing men, and they deserve to be remembered. Their love helped shape the woman I am today, and as long as I'm here, I'll keep sharing the memories and telling their stories.
Losing both a daddy and a husband within such a short time—two men who loved you unconditionally—is a kind of grief that's hard to understand unless you've walked it yourself.
I know they're in Heaven, and I carry their love with me every day. Visiting their resting place brings me a sense of peace. Sometimes I talk, sometimes I pray, and sometimes I just stand quietly and remember how blessed I was to be loved by them.
Today, I changed out their flowers and brought a little touch of fall to their resting place. Just a small way to continue honoring two men who meant so much to me.
That's grief. It's love that I carry differently now.
So I keep moving forward, one day at a time, trusting God to carry me while holding their love and memories close to my heart.
