I love recycle crafts especially when I can create them to be as cute as this little apple.
Gifts from the heart are so much more special than any old thing I could pick up at the store so one of my favorite things to do is create these types of crafts.
I created this project with back to school in mind but the card can be easily changed to Christmas, teacher appreciation or end of school. Using my Cricut Explore makes it super easy to create an all in one tag that will print and cut on my machine.
I started with an empty container (from microwaveable mac ‘n cheese). To clean I just ran it through the top rack of my dishwasher. Or handwashing is fine too. Which ever is easier for you.
I am the only person on the planet that does not like spray paint – I really do not like it. {gasp} I can never get it even, I overspray, have drips and like to craft at night so it is not convenient for me. So I used my new chalk paint I picked up at Wal-Mart. Waverly Lacquer (red color)
I painted the container with four coats inside and out. It dries rather quickly so I didn’t get too impatient.
Here is a video of how I put it all together 🙂
Here is a video of how I designed the Apple for my card in Design Space and cut out using my Cricut Explore.
I just love how the little card turned out. I think the gingham fabric, linen string, distress ink, doodling and kraft cardstock just ties the whole project together.
The container can be used over again and again by holding paper clips, pens, pencils, other desk accessories and more. A gift that can be used for many years!
Happy Back to School 2015!
