Holiday decorating is in full swing around my home and I am really enjoying making a few decor items to add to this year’s arrangements.
If you visit my home you will find lots of country Christmas decor and so these mini rustic burlap trees fit in nicely.
Sometimes I need just a little of “something” to add to something else in a decorating ensemble. I hope that makes sense. 🙂
I’ve seen a few rustic cone trees around the web and was really inspired when I spotted some in the recent issue of Country Sampler magazine. I knew I wanted to try my hand at decorating some with my style.
When I found some small Styrofoam cones at The Dollar Tree I knew it was a good time to try and craft this little project I had in my head.
Supplies:
– 7 1/2 inch Stryofoam cone
– 1 3/8″ wood candle cups
– burlap
– green & natural jute string
– mini rusty jingle bells
– mini rusty star garland
– brown paper sacks (not pictured)
– red/white stitched ribbon (not pictured)
– rusty star for top
– hot glue, white blue, E-6000 glue, brown acrylic paint
*note* (paint candle cups and set aside to dry while you are working on the trees)
Directions:
1. Cut bottom section off paper bag.
2. Crumble bag
3. Trace bottom of cone and cut out circle
4. Glue on circle to bottom of cone
5. Smooth open bag and cut to fit cone
6. Wrap burlap around bag and cone, then wrap jute and red/white stitched ribbon
7. Attach candle cup to bottom of cone with E-6000 glue.
8. Wrap mini star garland around con.
9. Attach rusty jingle bells with hot glue, hold them upright so the jingle inside doesn’t touch the hot glue.
10. Insert rusty star into top of cone/tree
Find the perfect decor spot and enjoy! 🙂
You could always add more or less stuff to your trees.
Jingle Jingle and Happy Holidays my friends!
